As a part of the Over-the-Top (OTT) Live Acquisition Engineering (LAE) team, you will build a future-proof, globally scaled live video platform by building infrastructure, automation, and content systems to ensure the most reliable, resilient, and highest quality streaming experience.At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we share, and build community through our stories. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
-
Provide architectural guidance and integration support of network and software buildouts for a globally scaled live streaming platform.

Collaborate with content companies, third-party aggregators, and vendors to onboard premium live content to YouTube.

Design new metrics and refine existing ones to benchmark stream quality and reliability, standardize and convert operational processes.

Lead automation initiatives and alert tuning while serving as the executive escalation point for stream impacting issues.

Drive a roadmap for operational tooling initiatives, and partner with software engineering teams to design and implement solutions.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
3 years of experience in a technical video system in a technical environment.

1 year of experience in technical troubleshooting, writing code or technical project management.
Preferred qualifications
-
3 years of experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
-
2 years of experience in solutions engineering, solutions architecture or software architecture.
-
2 years of experience with streaming service or in broadcast media digital distribution.
-
Experience with video streaming back-end platforms such as video transport, video processing, Content Delivery Network (CDN) or client Adaptive Bitrate Streaming (ABR) playback.
