About the job
Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration.
The Display Applications Developing team serves as the critical bridge between cutting-edge R&D and commercial reality. Functioning as a strategic "team multiplier," we operate globally to secure high-stakes design and manufacturing ramps for Tier-1 consumer electronics leaders. Our mission is to lower the barrier to entry for our technology, transforming complex next-gen display silicon into scalable, market-ready solutions. By building robust development platforms—from advanced hardware drivers to automated internal software tools—we solve critical integration challenges in display image quality, power, and thermal management. We go beyond traditional support; we design the ecosystem that makes our display innovations easier to integrate, faster to adopt, and impossible to ignore.
As a Display Applications Developer, you will design the reference hardware and software ecosystems that drive the adoption of our advanced display silicon. You will own the complete hardware development lifecycle for display development platforms—from defining functional requirements and schematic design to board bring-up and comprehensive signal/power integrity analysis.
Beyond hardware execution, you will act as a team multiplier for the global developing team, by bridging the gap between silicon R&D and commercial integration. You will ensure our display technology is not only high-performing but also scalable and easy to implement for our partners.
Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.
The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is CAD 158,000-162,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
-
Own the hardware development lifecycle, from defining functional requirements and schematic design through to board bring-up and validation, while performing signal and power integrity analysis to de-risk designs.
-
Lead electrical and thermal characterization of display systems to ensure image quality, investigating complex power delivery issues (e.g., correlating wirebond defects or OPR artifacts to visual performance).
-
Design and build internal developing tools using Python to automate workflows, focusing on user-centric solutions that increase efficiency for the wider developing team.
-
Utilize light measurement devices alongside standard electronic measurement tools to correlate electrical performance with optical output.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a specialized field or equivalent practical experience.
-
4 years of experience with the full hardware design cycle, including schematic capture, component selection, board bring-up, and debugging.
-
4 years of experience programming with Python for scripting, test automation, and data analysis.
-
4 years of experience working in hardware board design, validation, or applications engineering.
-
4 years of experience with high-speed Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) principles.
-
Experience using simulation tools or analysis techniques to de-risk PMIC and mixed-signal designs.
Preferred qualifications
-
Familiarity with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads) for characterization and root-cause analysis.
-
Familiarity with light measurement devices (spectrometers, colorimeters, industrial cameras) and the ability to correlate electrical performance with optical outputs (brightness, color, uniformity).
-
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and communicate complex technical concepts to both internal R&D teams and external partners.
-
Ability to process and visualize experimental data to drive engineering decisions.
-
Willingness to travel internationally (Taipei, partner sites) to support integration milestones.
