  • Manage a team around engineers in the development of software tools and scripts to diagnose, profile, and analyze system issues of Google custom silicon.

  • Guide the team in presenting complex analytics through both Command-line Interface (CLI) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) interfaces, while correlating data from microcontrollers and power/performance measurements. And direct the application of GenAI to pinpoint root causes of silicon issues and boot team productivity.

  • Lead design reviews with stakeholders and peers to decide on core technologies including software and hardware for DTA related areas.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Google teams to build exceptional APIs, tools, and user interfaces.

  • Oversee work with early hardware prototypes, FPGAs, and SW-simulations of SoC designs to verify and enable critical functionality.

Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes beyond just Search. Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in embedded systems and the leadership skills to manage complex Hardware/Software (HW/SW) co-design projects in a fast-paced environment.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Debug/Trace/Analytics (DTA) Tools team in Taipei. You will manage a talented group of engineers dedicated to building the next generation of debug and analytics tools for Google's custom silicon (e.g., tensor) providing a comprehensive suite of host-side profiling tools that utilize the latest hardware and software capabilities to enhance internal team productivity.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. We aim to make people's lives better through technology.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software development, including 5 years working with on-chip debugging, tracing, and profiling solutions, or developing firmware and embedded operating systems.

  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
