In this role, you will collaborate closely with partner teams like Dataplex and Dataproc. As a member of our small, early-stage team, you will have excellent learning and growth opportunities. You'll be a part of the Big Query team, where you'll be empowered to design, implement, launch, and land large-scale, impactful projects with the necessary support and guidance, and a large pipeline of enterprise customers waiting to use your features. You'll be instrumental in shaping the architecture and future of Big Query's metadata management capabilities. You will be focused on improving Federation support for Big Lake. This includes support for major strategic partners such as Salesforce and open-source standards such as the Iceberg REST Catalog.

Responsibilities

• Work with storage, networking, and analytic engines leads to creating a technical roadmap for cross cloud analytics. Lead execution, including delivering some aspects personally.

• Work with product managers to create a comprehensive product that aligns to the roadmap.

• Model technical leadership for the broader Big Lake organization.

• Help develop a culture of operational excellence within the team.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including: Java, C/C++ or Python.

• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.

• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

• Experience with open source systems like Apache Iceberg, Spark, etc.

• Experience working with partners such as SAP, Salesforce.
