Overview

The Trading and Market Strategies team is the central trading desk for Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) and executes cash equities, listed & OTC derivatives across global asset classes for portfolio managers throughout the Asset Management Division. This is a global desk with a presence in New York and Singapore. Specifically, this person will focus on our Fundamental Equity (“FE”), Quantitative Investment Strategies ( QIS ) and other portfolio managers in GSAM. Our platform provides institutional clients with investment opportunities around the world via a wide variety of financial instruments & strategies.

The desk is looking for an Analyst/Associate in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute stocks, ETFs, futures, FX, NDF and OTC derivatives (options, interest rate swap & total return swap etc) on behalf of Portfolio Managers.
• Work closely with the investment teams to develop and optimize implementation strategies.
• Provide market color to constituents around the division.
• Conduct and pre and post trade cost analysis for the team to ensure a detailed understanding of trading activity.
• Develop and maintain counterparty relationships.
• Lead or assist in various engineering or research initiatives for Portfolio Managers and the trading desk.
• Execute trades using a combination of high-touch & low touch methods.
• Ad hoc project work, client engagement such as trading demo/presentation as required by client servicing teams.
• Day to day administrative tasks, liaison with Operations & Engineering team, in support of trading activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of trading experience on sell or buyside, dealing in multiple assets class.
• A strong interest in understanding the markets with relevant experience.
• Independent thinker with good analytical and quantitative skills.
• Motivated team player with a strong work ethic. Ability to work well in a team environment is critical.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to details, able to handle a fast paced high volume trading activities.
• Individuals who aspire to build a long term career as a buyside trader.
• Strong understanding of market dynamics and with a risk management mindset.
