Your Impact as a Strategist

Within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, quantitative strategists are at the cutting edge of our business, solving real-world problems through a variety of analytical methods. Working in close collaboration with portfolio managers across asset classes, their invaluable quantitative perspectives on complex financial and technical challenges power our business and investment decisions.

As a member of our team, you will use your advanced training in mathematics, programming and logical thinking to solve real-world problems in the space of information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, data modeling and data platforms that will transform Goldman’s asset management business. Your talents for research, analysis and aptitude for innovation will define your contributions and enable you to find solutions to a broad range of problems, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Who We Look For

We are interested in individuals who have strong analytical and coding skills and a passion for using technology to solve business problems.

Basic Qualifications

You are familiar with multiple programming languages and have a strong understanding of SQL and Relational Algebra. You have worked with various databases and database dialects, especially MySQL and are eager to learn new ones when needed. You are experienced in data warehouses, data marts and data lakes and their suitability for various scenarios. You are focused on developing scalable solutions that could be leveraged across multiple businesses and engineering teams. You have used different software techniques, data manipulation techniques, ETL and ELT, and SQL tuning. You constantly try to improve existing systems / architecture. You keep on top of the latest news in data platform development from Relational databases to NoSQL/Distributed databases. You would like to join a team of like-minded, quality focused professionals in a fast-paced environment with high focus on product delivery and constant innovation where you will be able to make a significant impact to the overall GSAM data platform.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in one of the STEM fields (Computer Science preferred)
• Strong knowledge of relational design and data modeling
• Deep understanding of data structures (trees, hash maps, queues)
• Experience in SQL and object-oriented programming like Python
• Developed and maintained large scale distributed data platforms
• Strong communication skills
• Managerial experience
