The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Counsel to join our legal team supporting our product and other business functions supporting the product. In this role, you will become the primary legal advisor for certain products advising on a wide range of legal issues, including data privacy, intellectual property, responsible AI, and other areas within the unique context of educational technology. This position sits on the Legal Team, a team that collaborates with cross-functional partners to create. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful collaborator, strong communicator, and practical, business-oriented problem solver.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with subject matter experts on key issues related to the products providing practical and creative legal guidance in a highly regulated environment.

  • Advise the product and engineering teams on a wide range of legal issues, including privacy, intellectual property rights, data security, consumer protection laws (e.g., COPPA, FERPA, CCPA), and responsible AI.

  • Counsel regarding new feature and product offerings, billing and payments issues, third party partnerships, and integrations.

  • Support Go Guardian’s product-related communications from product marketing, corporate communications, and other user-facing teams on product-related descriptions and disclosures.

  • Draft and update end user license agreements, terms of service, privacy policies and consents, and other legal terms for Go Guardian’s customers.

  • Provide guidance on a variety of other topics related to Go Guardian’s products, including intellectual property, litigation support, and other subject areas as they arise.

  • Interface effectively and efficiently with external counsel as needed.

Who You Are

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or technology company.

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and in active good standing with at least one state bar.

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about technology law and policy, privacy law, and schools.

  • Practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to distill complex topics into understandable pieces of guidance for business team members.

  • Eager to take initiative in a fast-paced, ever-changing, dynamic environment.

The typical base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000 per year. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay for this position and your pay will be determined by a variety of factors, including your primary work location, skills, qualifications and experience.
