Job Description Medical Project Management: Liver & AAI (Antivirals & Anti-Infectives)
Senior manager level, Associate director level based on experience
Holborn office based

An opportunity to join the Liver & AAI medical team in the UK & Ireland affiliate. You will be responsible for the tactical delivery and project management of the UK & Ireland medical activities related to Liver & AAI.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide medical engagement and leadership within cross functional therapeutic teams
  • Therapy area expert engagement with internal teams: Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Government affairs, Public Affairs, Research & Development
  • Work in partnership with the Medical Director to coordinate and ensure consistency and efficiency in all relevant departmental operations and processes
  • Being an expert in the therapy area and fully conversant with the data relating to Gilead medicines and competitors’ products
  • Contribution to local strategic planning (Medical and Commercial Plans of Action
  • POAs)
  • Ensures activities are ethical and compliant with relevant laws, Codes and Gilead standards
  • Local conference management including abstract submission, symposia & workshops
  • Support with design of commercial materials
  • Material review/approval/certification in Veeva Vault Promo Mats (VVPM)
  • Managing Medical Affairs programmes, including but not limited to:
    o National, regional and local non-promotional meetings / medical education
    o Post-Conference debrief materials for both internal and external use
    o Localisation and creation of materials for both internal and external use e.g. scientific data presentation for medical scientists, patient support materials
    o Medical Affairs Advisory Boards
    o Product launches and HTA submissions
    o Early access/compassionate use programme management
    o Management of activities by external agencies and suppliers
    o UK grants and Investigator Sponsored Research proposals

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience within a commercial pharmaceutical company is highly desirable
  • Clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in Liver, virology and infectious diseases is highly desirable
  • UK registered Health Care Professional with a valid Medical or Pharmacist Degree
  • Experienced ABPI/IPHA code reviewer is highly desirable
  • ABPI/IPHA code signatory experience is highly desirable; ability to train and become a signatory is essential
  • Experience in Public Health and Epidemiology is desirable
  • Experience of product launch and/or HTA submissions is desirable
  • Experience in multi/omni-channel medical communication strategies is desirable
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal relationship-building and negotiation communication skills are required, along with the ability to provide clear and concise complex analysis of quantitative and qualitative concepts
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence
  • Ability to embrace Gilead’s leadership commitments and patient-centric values, including highest ethical and compliance standards
  • Must be able to analyse complex data and put together effective concise reports while meeting all deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems, and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to senior management, marketing and sales
  • Must be team oriented and work in several teams that may overlap, such as global medical team, cross-functional brand team, regional account teams
  • A proven ability to utilise complex scientific resources for presentations in a variety of different settings is required
  • Experience managing projects with third party agencies is desirable
  • Ability to manage projects within budget and accurately manage budget tracking is highly desirable
