About the role
OVERVIEW The Health, Safety and Environmental Lead will engage in the managing and training of occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs essential to protecting all plant employees. The leader should have a strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulatory requirements. The Lead will also be responsible for the management of the plant’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program so that it continually improves and meets/exceeds the requirements of the OSHA PSM standard. The Leader must be capable of effectively working with others including leading teams of technical staff (technicians, subject matter experts, and others). The Leader will coordinate work being conducted by plant personnel and outside contractors. Finally, the Leader must be capable of effectively communicating throughout the organization. The Leader will also be responsible any other tasks assigned. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Manage assigned OSHA 1910 General Industry Standards. These standards may consist of: Control of Hazardous Energy Sources (LOTO), Welding, Cutting and Brazing (Hot Work), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, and Emergency Preparedness & Response Actively participate on the Central Safety Committee team Ensure inspections, program reviews and incident investigations are completed in a quality and timely manner Collaborate with site Learning and Development (L&D) and HSE Pillar Owner to develop content, training plans, and documentation/tracking as required Review equipment design, safety devices and guarding for equipment installation Manage the purchase and invoicing of safety supplies Work with site teams to address safety concerns Have a basic understanding of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and OSHA’s process safety management (PSM) standard Ensure the Plant’s PSM process is properly maintained, in compliance with company/OSHA/EPA standards, including documentation, training, communications, participation, and activities at a minimum Work with engineering and maintenance to ensure all contractors meet or exceed company requirements. Monitor and observe contractors while on site to ensure work is done properly and safely Manage and work with the Site Safety Manager on all Emergency Planning and Response activities. Ensure the process is up to date and properly documented Conduct HSE program audits. Communicate audit results to plant leadership team. Manage audit action plans to ensure they are up to date and required actions are completed on schedule MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma Proficient in MS Office and computer software Capable of conducting/reviewing Incident Investigations and identifying/implementing root causes Ability to identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate or control the exposures PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree Experience with computer maintenance systems Willing to become a member of the Haz Mat response team Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or related field COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
