General Mills is looking for a passionate and creative Brand PR Manager who will develop and manage media relations strategy for several of General Mills’ leading brands. This position will partner serve in an integrated role working closely with brand marketing teams while operating within the corporate communication department. The role will serve as day-to-day contact for outside agency partners. The role requires a high degree of cross-functional collaboration and influencing both inside and outside of the department and interacts regularly with brand partners across the company. All corporate communication manager roles within General Mills’ Corporate Communications team require a wide range of communications skills and a broad understanding of how they can be utilized in different situations to drive business results. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In this role you will: Develop and execute innovative and creative public relations campaigns for leading General Mills products and programs Ideate, consult, coach, and guide internal teams on public relations activations that build our brands Proactively pitch story angles and secure top-tier press coverage across diverse consumer, business, and trade publications; directly managing key media relationships Lead day-to-day management of agency partners ensuring collaborative and creative results Execute creative and differential public relations strategies in support of General Mills’ brands, ensuring partnership with agency contacts and internal teams for maximum visibility Provide guidance and counsel across issues or risk mitigation as it relates to General Mills brands or products Maximize GMI’s cultural relevancy by strategically counseling brands on how to best leverage key cultural moments to ensure that public relations executions are timely, relevant, and impactful. Develop media strategies that reflect long term and agile activations to support General Mills leading brands in culture and to help drive business objectives Write press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, media statements, Q&As and key messages in support of General Mills brands MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required 8+ years’ experience in a corporate communications or PR/communications agency developing and implementing corporate brand/PR/communications programs Proven understanding of a wide range of communications skills, including deep experience in media relations (consumer product media relations experience is a plus), demonstrated experience in issues management, and development of strategic communications processes (planning, project management, writing, and counseling) ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. General Mills will not sponsor applicants for a U.S. work visa. International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
