About the role

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position Overview: The Utilities and Facilities Technician performs various duties in the maintenance and operation of all the Utility plant machinery and equipment, including boilers, air compressors, ammonia systems, and other auxiliary equipment. Utilities and Facilities Technicians work a 3-2-2 twelve-hour shift schedule and must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends and be on call for emergency events. Wages: $27.98 per hour to start Annual pay increases up to $35.98 per hour Benefits: Start First Date of Hire! Schedule: 12 Hour Shifts Week 1: 3 on, 3 off, 2 on Week 2: 3 off, 2 on, 2 off Every 8 weeks, those on the 3-2-2 schedule rotate from days to nights. The 3-2-2 shift schedule cycle repeats every 2 weeks with every other weekend off. Main Responsibilities: In this role, you will Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Safely operate utilities systems including boilers/steam, compressed air, refrigeration units (Ammonia), chillers, cooling towers, water, and wastewater and other utility systems Perform facility and manufacturing equipment evaluation, set-up and repair, as well as assessment, troubleshoot, repair and preventive maintenance for plant utility systems Complete and maintain accurate documentation/logs/inspections of utilities system and operation Test and treat boilers and cooling towers Maintain cleanliness of all areas of responsibility and proper care for tools Train and become qualified as an entry level Boiler Operator/Ammonia Technician Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Two years refrigeration technician experience or equivalent education Possess minimum two years electrical and mechanical maintenance experience Possess minimum two years of experience with steam boilers Working knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration Must obtain a wastewater certification within 6 months of employment. Must obtain an Entry Ammonia certification within 6 months of employment. Experience in computer skills, Maximo, Microsoft Office Effective written and oral communication skills Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 50 lbs on a regular basis, with some items up to 75 lbs. Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces, some possibly rough or uneven. Willing and able for on call and/or emergency events and work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, daily overtime or overtime outside of your regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week) Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat/bump cap, hair/beard net and gloves when required, including full face breathing apparatus. Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Ability to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: Priority will be given to those possessing a current Haz Mat Technician Level Emergency Response Certificate and/or CIRO or CARO Certification through RETA Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field Continuing education in maintenance/technical skills Computer Maintenance Management System experience Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
