Job Description Summary

The OWS Chief/ Shop Inspector will demonstrate accountability for the shop quality processes, functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and work various quality and technical processes that meet business needs across the organization, managing complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Site Overview:

On Wing Support Korea was launched in 2000 at Gimpo Airport. Recognizing the growing need for support, we expanded the center in 2013. It was relocated to the Gimpo Aerospace Industrial Complex with enhanced quick-turn service capabilities for large engines. One of seven global centers, it serves as a crucial hub for quick-turn and real-time services in Asia Pacific to keep our customers flying.

Role Overview:

  • Reports to and serves as secondary back-up to site Quality Manager

  • Oversight of shop/field engine maintenance activities to ensure compliance with Quality Manual requirements, Engine Manual/AMM inspection criteria and requirements of local regulatory authorities. Independent audits/inspection of engines undergoing maintenance in the shop, including final hands-on inspection for shop engines prior to shipment.

  • Work closely with Production, Planners and Business Leader to ensure the site operations are accomplished in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements for existing and/or new workscope.

  • Monitors shop quality processes to ensure adherence to quality requirements set forth in the regulatory approved/accepted manuals, GE Quality System and site Quality procedures/instructions.

  • Assists Quality Manager in conducting technicians' assessment from a quality perspective, in reviewing a workscope and work package documentation etc.

  • Assists Quality Manager in completion of internal/work station audits and implementation of effective corrective actions as a result of those audits

  • May, on occasion, accompany a team on a field job for purpose of performing field audits, and compliance to workscope requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate is someone strong background in aviation quality, possessing at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience. They should be familiar with aviation regulations ( MOLIT, FAA, EASA Part 145, etc.), safety management systems, and quality assurance practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/ GED

  • Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic (Korean) Licensed.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Inspector or mechanic /Certifying Staff functions in aviation.

  • Experienced on GE engine models w/focus on complex workscopes

  • Demonstrated proficiency with maintenance data, including ESM, AMM, SB’s

  • Familiar with Regulatory certification requirements (FAA, EASA, MOLIT, etc.)

  • Familiarity with RCCA processes and involvement in prior Quality Events and/or Escapes investigations

  • Previous experience with working in and or with a "teaming" environment
