Job Description Job Overview:
Manages various EHS programs to ensure compliance with metals recycling/scrap, hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste (e.g., used oil and absorbents), and wastewater treatment systems for both Terre Haute, IN locations.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Drives constant EHS compliance with an emphasis on environmental tasks.
- Technical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining good housekeeping in scrap building, hazwaste building, wastewater, etc.
- Daily scrap management
- Conduct various inspections in compliance with GE standards and regulatory schedules
- Coordinate with vendors to schedule disposal of scrap and waste
- Track waste accumulation dates
- Calibrate EHS equipment and devices
- Conduct daily operations involving the wastewater processes
- Conduct training for forklift operations, confined spaces, line breaking, and advanced electrical
- Complete and retain all relevant documentation/records
- Complete all required trainings relevant to position
- Collaborate with peers and support staff for continuous improvement in the shop.
- Proficient in all electronic systems relevant to job function (i.e. E-mail, MS Office, Gensuite etc.).
- Actively participates in daily team activities and meetings.
- Follow all GE Aerospace Terre Haute policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Currently holds a state wastewater certification or must be able to obtain certification within 24 months of start date.
- Ability to obtain and maintain RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials certifications within 6 months of start date.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Operator’s License immediately upon start date.
- Strong attendance record.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and integrity of duties performed.
- Ability to work OT as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS is preferred but not required.
