Position Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing complex manufacturing production equipment to meet planned production,quality, and safety standards. This role supports a wide range of equipment and systems, including CNC machining centers,creep feed grinders,laser ablation equipment, and other advanced manufacturing processes. The technician will work with electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems, performing analytical and functional troubleshooting, executing preventive maintenance (PM), and driving equipment reliability improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

  • Maintain, repair, modify, and rebuild a wide variety of complex manufacturing equipment, machine tools, and associated equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Support and repair equipment such as CNC machining centers, creep feed grinders, laser ablation systems, and other manufacturing machinery.

Technical Documentation and Interpretation

  • Read, interpret, and follow complex blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and instruction manuals related to hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and electro-mechanical apparatus.
  • Provide accurate documentation of work performed in both electronic and paper formats, including maintenance logs, work orders, and repair reports.

Safety and Compliance

  • Perform all duties in compliance with safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Confined space entry
  • Fall protection/fall arrest
  • Hot work permits
  • NFPA 70E electrical safety
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following good housekeeping practices.
  • Support adherence to environmental, health, and safety requirements in the facility.

PM/CM, and CMMS Usage

  • Maintain, rebuild, and repair a wide variety of machinery using both standard and specialized tools and equipment (ladders, hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, etc.).
  • Perform **preventive maintenance (PM)**and corrective maintenance (CM) tasks to sustain equipment performance and reliability.
  • Complete work orders and log all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Testing and Troubleshooting Tools

  • Utilize complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical test equipment, including:Oscilloscopes and electronic test instruments
  • Volt-ohm meters (VOMs) and multimeters
  • Meggar
  • Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators
  • Ball bar systems, laser alignment tools, and electronic levels
  • Apply analytical and functional troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and restore equipment to optimal operation.

Continuous Improvement and Teamwork

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives, including kaizen events, problem-solving activities, and team-based projects.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and process capability.

Desired Characteristics

Education & Technical Background

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or a trade school certificate in areas such as:Mechatronics
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Industrial Electronics
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology
  • Or related disciplines

Technical Skills

  • Advanced understanding of CNC machining centers, including associated tooling and fixtures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of logic and complex systems, such as:PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • Robotics and automation systems
  • Advanced understanding of automation concepts, including integration and troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC servo loop systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics and mechanical fit of components, assemblies, and subassemblies, including precision tolerances required to maintain or restore machines to OEM specifications.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, instruction manuals, diagrams, and N/C and PLC ladder programs.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic computer/keyboarding skills.

Safety, Physical, and Work Practices

  • Demonstrated experience performing duties in alignment with safety regulations and procedures, including:Fire evacuation and emergency procedures
  • Accident reporting
  • LOTO, confined space, hot work permits, NFPA 70E
  • Ability to perform work requiring considerable physical effort

, including: Intermittent lifting of up to50 pounds

  • Manipulating bulky subassemblies, parts, and tooling
  • Working in awkward positions (bending, stooping, climbing) during maintenance tasks
  • Ability to climb ladders as necessary
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to effectively use various hand tools, gauges, and precision instruments.
