Job Description Summary

Unison, a GE Aerospace company, is the leading provider of differentiated engine controls, accessories, and performance monitoring solutions in the Aerospace, Defense & Space segments. Serving both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, Unison designs, manufactures and supplies the most advanced components and systems in the world.
The Lean Manufacturing Specialist will play an integral role in the implementation of the lean strategy at the Norwich, NY site. This role will partner with the organization leadership team at all levels to drive product flow and process improvements that deliver lead time reductions and maximize cash flow.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Lean Transformation

  • Assists in the lean transformation within manufacturing cells to improve process quality and create capacity by reducing cycle time, inventory and waste.
  • Exemplifies site lean standards for visual management, 5S, daily management, etc.
  • Facilitation of Kaizen events that impact product flow, production to TAKT, and inventory turns.
  • Teaches, promotes and practices the lean principles and tools. Has a visual presence on the production floor guiding and teaching employees on lean principles and fundamentals.
  • Leads Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events to identify process wastes and to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Aids in the creation of Standard Work, layouts, and process flow diagrams for necessary processes.
  • Facilitates functional managers in establishing process flow by implementing visual management tools and methods to pull product through work cells.
  • Utilizes lean concepts and tools as set forth by designated GE system (Flight Deck).
  • Coaches’ teams using the APPS format through define, analyze, countermeasure, and sustain phases.

Lean Culture

  • Facilitates, trains, and coaches team members in the use of the GE Flight Deck, Lean, and problem solving tools.
  • Educates, coaches and mentors others on Lean philosophy and application.
  • Communicates and coordinates effectively with senior leadership partners to achieve goals and results.
  • Identifies potential process improvement projects and executes on areas of opportunities to support the site and product groups in supporting their customers.
  • Utilizes proper PPE, safety equipment, and follows all safety procedures.
    • Ability and willingness to cross-train employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)

  • Experience with Lean tools – 5S, Kanban, Setup reduction, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Experience with Cycle-Time Improvement.
  • Experience with Loss and Waste Elimination.
  • Passion for driving improvement.
  • Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification or equivalent quality certification.

The base pay range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on May 1, 2026.
