Coating Specialist
Job Description Summary
The Coating Technician supports thermal spray coating on gas turbine components, including pre/post-coating weighing and application. They ensure safe, accurate work while promoting Lean practices, maintaining 5S standards, and contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
Job Description Key Responsibilities
- Perform Coating Application in accordance with approved work instructions, process standards, and engineering requirements.
- Perform Mask for Coating in accordance with approved work instructions and process specifications if required.
- Read and interpret work instructions and quality forms to ensure accurate coating application.
- Record and maintain accurate process and measurement data as required.
- Use coating equipment, weighing devices, fixtures, and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Inspect parts before and after coating processes to ensure conformance to quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, quality, cycle time, flow, and waste reduction.
- Contribute to team efforts that improve line performance, operational efficiency, and overall shop productivity.
- Use shop floor systems and interfaces such as ELM and Smart Shop, as required.
- Comply with company quality policies, safety requirements, applicable procedures, and standard work.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Knowledge and experience in a technician, manufacturing, coating, or industrial role.
Desired characteristics
- Min 2 years’ experience with Thermal Barrier Coating processes.
- Participating in problem solving or process improvement activities.
- Min 2 years’ experience working with gas turbine components or other precision aerospace/industrial parts.
