Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team at GE Vernova Grid Solutions. You will be an Electrical Engineer with a background in Power Systems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing systems for our Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Job Description Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical equipment design for FACTS devices, including Fixed Series Capacitors and Synchronous Condensers.
- Develop equipment studies, equipment specifications, issue material purchase requests, and evaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including capacitors, arresters, reactors, rotating equipment, high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, high voltage cable, and protection and control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including control engineers, design engineers, and technical project managers, to ensure the successful project execution.
- Conduct system modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize electrical design and improve system performance.
- Participate in the testing and validation of FACTS systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Write technical reports and presentations effectively communicating data from FACTS systems for both internal and external audiences.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in FACTS systems engineering and power systems technology.
- Prepare technical documentation, including test plans, training, and user manuals.
- Support business development activities by providing technical expertise and contributing to proposal development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering, or a related field.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (including international), in compliance with company travel and tax policies
- Understanding of power system design and exposure to IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Word, Excel, ATP and Python.
- Understands control systems, equipment schematics, installation, and testing of HV equipment, including required safe work habits.
