Manufacturing Specialist - Warehouse, Inventory & Packing
Job Description Summary
The Warehouse, Packing & Dispatch role is responsible for ensuring on-time material feeding to the production line, effective inventory management, and timely dispatch of transformer main units and accessories with proper packing standards. The role focuses on maintaining material availability, dispatch readiness, storage accuracy, and safe handling practices to support smooth operations and customer commitments.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
- Receive, classify, and stock incoming goods. This includes ERP updating, managing stocking conditions, and knowing "what is where".
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
- Ensure on-time material feeding to the production line as per production requirements.
- Manage warehouse operations including receipt, storage, issuance, and stock movement of materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory management and stock records to ensure material traceability and availability.
- Coordinate packing and dispatch of transformer main units and accessories as per delivery schedules.
- Ensure all products are packed properly to avoid transit damage and meet company/customer standards.
- Monitor dispatch planning to ensure timely shipment of finished goods.
- Verify dispatch documents, packing lists, and material quantities before shipment.
- Maintain FIFO / FEFO and proper inventory control practices where applicable.
- Coordinate with production, planning, logistics, and quality teams for smooth material flow and dispatch execution.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of materials and finished goods in the warehouse.
- Track inventory discrepancies, damages, shortages, and take corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping, and warehouse operational standards.
- Support cycle counts, physical stock audits, and reconciliation activities.
- Monitor loading and unloading activities to ensure safe and damage-free movement of materials
Required Qualifications
- This role requires basic experience in the Manufacturing & Warehouse/Packing and Inventory. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- Basic knowledge of ERP / SAP / warehouse management systems
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Graduate / Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
- Experience in warehouse, packing, dispatch, or manufacturing operations
- Experience in transformer industry or heavy equipment dispatch is an added advantage**.**
