Building on our reputation as an industry leader in innovation, we are looking for an exceptional talent to unlock the full potential of the cleantech start-up ecosystem for GE Vernova. The purpose of our Venturing team is to simultaneously bring new technologies and business models to our customers and help our portfolio startups grow and scale. This position will report to the Executive Director Technology Strategy & Venturing and represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of venturing at the company.

The Director, Ventures will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, executing venturing deals of all kinds. These may include minority investments and may also include commercial or technical partnerships between the startups and the company. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing several of our existing companies and funds investments in our venturing portfolio.

With the role based out of our GE Vernova HQ in Cambridge, MA, a particular focus will be on tapping into the East Coast startup ecosystem and links with academia for origination.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities:

• Source, structure and lead venture partnership execution
• Track and manage startup equity portfolio across GE Vernova
• Maintain and cultivate relationships with venture partners to obtain up-to-date market intelligence
• Craft investment theses in areas of high impact in close collaboration with business units
• Build GE Vernova process for partnering with external startups and align across businesses

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills and abilities)

• Expertise negotiating and closing deals with startups and other VCs
• Proven ability to identify technology and team growth potential
• Track record of making technology demonstrations and customer pilots happen

Qualifications/Requirements:

• MBA Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree. A minimum 12 years of professional experience.
• 10+ years of deal-making experience specific to (Corporate) Venturing
• Venturing experience gained in a Top Quartile venture fund or corporate VC

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience of performing in a large, complex matrix organization
• Knowledge of the energy industry and value chain with related experience in electricity, renewable power, power transmission and distribution and energy software.
• Entrepreneurial nature with a passion for bringing technology to market
• Hands-on experience as Board Member/Observer in cleantech start-ups
• Expertise advising startups and managing a startup portfolio
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, ability to operate and communicate at senior business levels both with technical and non-technical staff
• Strong external energy VC/cleantech network in particular in the Boston/Cambridge ecosystem
• Experience in organizational transformation and the willingness and ability to drive cultural change that brings lasting, meaningful value to GE Vernova
• Strong team player with ability to build relationships quickly
• Proven project management skills, having the confidence to independently carry out high quality work under pressure and able to prioritize deliverables.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $155,900.00 and $259,900.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
