Job DescriptionGE Vernova in Schenectady, NY is seeking current students who have completed at least one full year of course studies (30+ credits relevant to their degree) in one of the AOS/AAS programs (or similar) listed below:

• Plumbing and Electrical Instrumentation

• Plumbing and Refrigeration

• Electrical Construction and Plumbing

• HVAC Technology

The Skilled Trades Internship Program is a 12-week, paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated students who are interested in pursuing a Plumbing Steamfitter career upon graduation. The program pays $28.01/hour for a 40-hour work week. A $600/month housing stipend is also available to students whose residence is more than 50 miles away from the site. Interns will be paired with current team members in numerous roles to learn more about the trade and to demonstrate their abilities. Skills developed include hydraulic systems, machine schematics, industrial machinery, steam, water and air systems. If successful in the internship, there is opportunity for full time employment upon graduation.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age

• Must have a high school diploma, GED, or GED equivalent

• Must have completed at least one year of one of the degree programs (or similar) listed above

• Must pass background check and drug screen

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes

• Must be able to work in a tobacco-free environment

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America

Note: Students with prior relevant experience and a cumulative average of 3.0 or better will be given preference.
