About this opportunity:
You will play a key role in learning, improving, and organizing the culture of efficiency within the clinical laboratory and broader operation. You will be directly responsible to provide world-class Laboratory Equipment Lifecycle Management service and support, while contributing to efficient processes, procedures, and best practices. You will have the opportunity to join a fast-growing automation service group, to make an immediate impact on the team’s dynamic and culture.
You work well with cross functional teams. The Automation Service Engineering team is a service provider to the laboratory teams, and the balance between bringing new ideas and processes to the table, while managing existing ones and gathering ideas/requirements from the end users will be a critical part for the success of the Automation Service Engineering team.
The role reports to the Director, Automation Service Engineering. This role will be an Onsite role.
What you’ll do:

This role requires a highly experienced, independent, and analytical professional to lead complex automation projects, ensure stringent regulatory compliance, and provide advanced technical expertise and mentorship within a fast-paced environment.

Extensive experience in automation service engineering, with a proven track record of successful project execution.
-
Demonstrated advanced analytical, critical, and complex troubleshooting skills.
-
High proficiency in hardware and software components of automation systems.
-
Deep knowledge of industry standards (CLIA, CAP, FDA, QMS, etc.) and experience managing compliance activities.
-
Support project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
-
Subject matter expert responsible for the advanced support, maintenance, and optimization of complex automation systems, often within a regulated environment.

Leverage advanced technical expertise in both hardware and software to diagnose and resolve the most challenging issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Must haves:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
-
A minimum of 5+ years with highly technical and specialized roles like Automation Service Engineer with laboratory support and sustainment experience in the life sciences, especially in high throughput labs.
Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:
-
Maintain, sustain, and support complex automation systems and processes, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of both hardware and software components.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues quickly and efficiently, utilizing proficiency in advanced automation tools and software.
Analytical Problem-Solving & Process Improvement:
-
Analyze complex systems and data to identify patterns, trends, and root causes of issues.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance:
-
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of industry-specific regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and FDA guidelines.

Independently ensure systems comply with current and changing regulatory requirements, and implement QA processes for high-quality outcomes.
Project Execution and Mentorship:
-
Independently lead less complex projects and equipment tasks, prioritizing based on importance and impact, and executing them efficiently to meet deadlines.

Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and laboratory personnel on automation systems, tools, and problem-solving techniques.

Automation laboratory equipment IT infrastructure operations

Integrating technology and robotics with software systems to streamline lab workflows, enhance efficiency, and minimize manual intervention.

Serve as Tier 1/2 support for infrastructure issues, troubleshooting OS (Windows/Mac), network connectivity, and specialized software.
Benefits and additional information:
The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $110,200 - $140,700. You will also be eligible to receive equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
