About the location:
Lisbon’s most iconic address. Located in the heart of Lisbon, our historic Hotel wears the cultural heart and soul of Portugal on its sleeve. Inside, art-deco sensibilities mingle with an updated Louis XVI style, and a collection of important contemporary local artwork fills our halls. Outside, views of the city’s rolling hills and brightly tiled exteriors spread out before you. After spending the day exploring the city sights, many just steps from the Hotel, we invite you for a seasonally inspired, Michelin-starred gastronomic experience at CURA restaurant.
What you will do
- Curate and maintain an exceptional wine list aligned with the restaurant’s concept and seasonal menus.
- Stay updated on global wine trends, emerging regions, and sustainable practices.
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and inventory management of wines and premium beverages.
- Provide detailed, engaging descriptions of wines and beverages, including origin, varietal, tasting notes, and production methods.
- Recommend wine pairings to complement dishes and enhance the dining experience.
- Organize and lead wine tastings or pairing events for guests.
- Oversee wine service standards: correct glassware, serving temperature, and presentation.
- Support the service team during peak hours with wine service and guest interaction.
- Monitor and maintain beverage stations and cleanliness.
- Control beverage costs through strategic purchasing and supplier negotiations.
- Implement Beverage Incentive Plans, track sales performance and implement upselling strategies.
- Manage stock levels and conduct regular inventory checks.
- Train F&B staff on wine and spirits knowledge, including: Wine regions and varietals, Food and wine pairing principles and Responsible alcohol service.
- Work closely with chefs to design pairing menus and seasonal offerings.
- Coordinate with suppliers for exclusive selections and promotional opportunities.
- Maintain professional and harmonious relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to concerns or special requests.
- Ensure every interaction reflects hospitality and expertise.
What you bring
- High school education, college degree specializing in hospitality, or equivalent experience;
- Strong food & beverage knowledge is required;
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills;
- Passion for service;
- Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays;
- The candidate must hold the required authorization to work in a European country;
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency both in Portuguese and English.
