As a Manufacturing Engineer – Strategy, Tech and Intelligence this pivotal, highly visible role sits within our Global Manufacturing Engineering Architecture, Program Engineering & Delivery (APD) department shaping future model programs to be leaders in the industry using the platform approach. The APD-Architecture & Strategy team acts on early insights with the Product Development (PD) team to optimize all aspects of new model production. As part of this team, you will interact directly with leadership to deliver the following as it relates to the three major Manufacturing functions of Body Construction Engineering, Global Paint Engineering, and Final Assembly Engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum with Engineering discipline preferred
- 3-5 years of vehicle assembly experience required
- Vehicle launch experience expected
- Practical assembly tooling implementation experience preferred
- Demonstrated Microsoft Office experience includes Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience conducting work in a virtual environment utilizing 3D tools required
- Established leadership and project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to present complicated concepts to an audience with a broad range of experiences
- Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles required
- Ability to deliver in stressful situations with self-motivation and minimal direct supervision within timing constraints
- Effective creativity to find solutions to unstructured or highly constrained problems

This position is a salary grade 6 -8 and ranges from $72,480-162,120.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop manufacturing strategy, tech and/or competitive intelligence methodologies to support Platform Execution teams
- Contribute to library of manufacturing competitive intelligence
- Drive manufacturing point of view in developing new products and manufacturing strategy
- Update and maintain APD related procedures and lessons learned
- Drive a Design For Assembly (DFA) mindset into new model vehicle part development by regularly collaborating with the PD team to minimize facility & tooling impact, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements
- Utilize virtual tools, such as Active Workspace and Team Center, to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for assembly
- Assess all product designs/concepts for adherence to our Global Manufacturing Requirements
- Evaluate "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs
- Evaluate and assess competitive vehicle information i.e. benchmarking relative to manufacturing and processing of end item parts, sub-assemblies, and fastening/joining to determine incorporation on future product and develop next-generation ideas
- Collaborate in a multi-functional team of Program Delivery teams, Product Development, Marketing, Program Planning, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs, etc. in early product planning workshops
- Travel to our North American assembly plants for site reviews as required
