In this position:

We are seeking an experienced stamping tooling professional to support the engineering, construction, and launch readiness of stamping dies. This role is responsible for ensuring tooling meets quality, timing, and performance requirements from sourcing through tryout and production readiness.

The Stamping Tooling Specialist (STS) operates within established STS standards and processes to ensure tooling is delivered in alignment with program objectives and manufacturing requirements.

The Stamping Tooling Specialist (STS) is responsible for the technical oversight and execution of stamping tooling from sourcing through tryout and production readiness. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, program managers, and tool shops to ensure dies are designed, constructed, and validated to meet part quality, manufacturability, and timing targets.

You have...

  • Strong background in stamping tooling construction, tryout, and die development.

  • Experience working with automotive tool shops and production stamping processes.

  • Understanding of die build, tryout, and production readiness requirements.

  • Ability to identify tooling risks and support resolution activities.

  • Experience working within structured tooling or launch processes (STS or similar).

  • Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.

Even better, you may have...

  • BSc, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial OR Electrical preferred).

  • Experience supporting automotive program launches.

  • Familiarity with global tool shop operations.

  • Understanding of part quality requirements and dimensional validation processes.

  • Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience.

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $63,480-106,680.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $72,480-121,440.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720-162,120.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid (onsite four days per week) for candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location or remote for non-local candidates.

What you'll do...

  • Support tooling design reviews to ensure manufacturability and process robustness.

  • Monitor tool construction progress and verify compliance with program requirements and standards.

  • Coordinate tool tryout activities and support die prove-out to achieve dimensional quality and run-at-rate capability.

  • Identify and resolve tooling issues impacting timing, quality, or manufacturability.

  • Support build events, PSW readiness, and launch milestones.

  • Track and support resolution of Yellow Items and other tooling risks.

  • Operate within STS standards, tooling construction processes, and WDX expectations.

  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, program managers, and tool shops to ensure tooling readiness.

  • Document tooling issues and support corrective action implementation.
