About the role

The Seat Trim Engineer has full ownership and technical responsibility for all seat trim variants within a vehicle program. This role involves leading the design and release of trim components, working closely with materials such as leather, textiles, and stitching processes.

The position requires strong cross-functional coordination with purchasing, finance, and manufacturing teams, as well as continuous interaction with global materials and engineering organizations to ensure compliance with standards, processes, and new technologies.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant professional experience (preferably in automotive interiors or seat trim).

Technical Knowledge:

BOM release systems (e.g., WERS, AVBOM or similar).
Software: Lectra, CATIA, MS Office, Vismockup, Teamcenter.
Knowledge of leather and textile manufacturing processes.
Understanding of cut & sew operations.
Experience with cost tracking and control.
Knowledge of material validation and specifications.
Familiarity with GPDS, PDP, and quality methodologies (Green Belt, 5D, 8D).

Design and release seat trim components (leather, fabric, stitching, etc.).
Manage and control trim system costs.
Lead technical and commercial discussions with suppliers.
Ensure program milestone compliance (GPDS).
Coordinate with seat system engineering teams.
Manage BOM (Bill of Materials), tracking, and release activities.
Perform root cause analysis for trim-related issues.
Oversee manufacturing processes (cut & sew, lamination, etc.).
Support validation, testing, and material specifications.
Drive continuous improvement activities (5D, 8D, cost reduction).
Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Support program launches and travel to plants/supplier sites as required.
