THE POSITION:

Our roster has an opening with your name on it

Fan Duel is looking for an Analytics Engineer who will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and improving the data models, datasets and data visualizations which are and will be used by data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to power business performance impacting decisions. In this role you will primarily focus on supporting Personalization for Sportsbook Product so will need to build a deep understanding of our customers. You will bridge the gap from our data and the Data Engineering team, to the data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders aiming to leverage that data for insights and business decisions.

THE GAME PLAN

Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Work with Data Scientists and Data Engineers to optimize data pipelines and feature engineering for reporting, analysis, classification and prediction models

  • Manage data transformation jobs for relevant data, ensure completion on schedule, optimize code, troubleshoot any issues

  • Optimize modeled metric pipelines, streamline execution times and prioritizations, reduce query execution times where possible, remove unnecessary or unused metrics

  • Build a strong understanding of Sportsbook Product, our customers behaviors and preferences, and your stakeholders objectives, to support collaboration, a focus on delivering impactful output and ideation

  • Through idea generation and exploratory analysis, develop new and innovative ways to turn behaviors into features for use in analysis, segmentation and predictive modeling

  • Maintain business rule definitions, and code implementations

  • Design and implement data quality checks and alerts to manage accuracy of underlying data, and ensure modeled metrics are fit for purpose

  • Build strong knowledge in how to optimally use our data platforms, and assist in educating team members in optimal platform usage;

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in relevant teams within the Data Engineering and Data Product departments;

  • Build and maintain dashboards, optimize code, troubleshoot issues

  • Identifying potential improvements in underlying ingested data, or new data needs, and working with Data Engineering to prioritize and deliver

THE STATS

What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role

  • Minimum 2 years building, maintaining and optimizing complex data pipelines with real world applications

  • Advanced SQL coding and experience of manipulating large datasets

  • Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, R, C# etc.)

  • Strong problem solving ability and attention to detail are important

  • Experience building data pipelines using Python and Databricks an advantage

  • Experience working with data visualization tools like Tableau an advantage

  • Undergraduate degree in a coding heavy or technical discipline

  • Interest in Sports an advantage

The applicable salary range for this position is $116,000 - $152,250 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. Fan Duel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
