Topps Digital – Sports & Entertainment is seeking a Senior Motion Designer to help grow our digital collectible mobile apps. In this role, you will lead the development, visualization, and execution of high-impact animated trading cards—from ideation through in-app release. You will partner closely with Designers, Content Producers, Product Managers, and Community Managers to elevate the visual and motion identity of our collectibles and drive engagement across Topps Sports & Entertainment apps.

What you will be doing…

With a deep passion for sports and entertainment—and a strong understanding of fandom and collector psychology—you know what makes a trading card feel desirable, rare, and exciting in a digital-first ecosystem.

You are a motion-driven storyteller who stays current with evolving trends and aesthetics in sports and entertainment culture. You understand how animation enhances perceived value, rarity, and collectibility within a trading card framework. In this role, you will:

• Lead ideation for animated digital trading cards that enhance collector excitement and perceived value

• Manage motion design projects from concept through release in partnership with Design and Operations teams

• Design and build modular animated templates to support scalable production across large checklists

• Own high-visibility, premium-tier collectibles while maintaining strong brand integrity

• Explore and prototype emerging digital collectible formats, including 3D where applicable

• Define and document best practices for animated collectible production workflows

• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless implementation within app environments

• Maintain and elevate the motion identity across each app and IP

• Motion-First Craftsmanship: Expert-level motion design skills with the ability to conceptualize and execute compelling animated trading cards

• Advanced Technical Execution: Deep experience in After Effects and Adobe Creative Suite, with strong proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator

• Digital Collectible Expertise: Understanding of how animated assets function within mobile apps, including performance considerations and optimization

• Creative Leadership: Ability to elevate team standards, provide mentorship, and champion innovation in animation techniques

• Strategic Thinking: Strong understanding of rarity tiers and set structures to appropriately scale motion intensity

• Collaboration & Communication: Clear communicator who can articulate creative rationale and incorporate feedback effectively

• Efficiency & Scalability: Ability to manage multiple projects while building repeatable, scalable motion systems

What you will bring…

• 5–8+ years of motion design experience in sports, entertainment, gaming, or mobile app environments

• Advanced expertise in After Effects required; strong proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator required

• Experience designing scalable animation systems for template-based production

• Strong understanding of motion theory and premium digital aesthetics

• Experience optimizing motion assets for mobile environments

• Ability to deliver high-quality animated content under tight deadlines

• Experience mentoring designers preferred

• Experience with 3D tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.) a plus

• Passion for collectibles and trading cards

The salary range for this position is $96,250 - $120,000, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
