Join EY and help to build a better working world.
EY is a leading global consultancy firm dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to complex business challenges. With a reputation for excellence, we collaborate with clients across various industries to drive transformational change, optimize performance, and achieve sustainable growth.
The Opportunity
The Supply Chain and Operations Consulting team drives business performance by optimizing and transforming supply chain and manufacturing functions. They design advanced planning processes, translate business strategy into actionable supply chain solutions, and enhance manufacturing productivity through digital and operational improvements. The team also develops frameworks to improve supply chain services and operations across value chains.
We are seeking a manager to join the team as a Meter Performance, Testing & Replacement Assurance Advisor within Supply Chain and Operations Consulting.
Key Responsibilities
-
Advise on meter acceptance testing and commissioning verification, including accuracy, time synchronization, and consistency between display and system readings.
-
Provide guidance on interpreting accuracy test tolerances and practical utility verification methods (lab versus field).
-
Validate meter configuration integrity (e.g., CT/PT ratios, multipliers, TOU parameters) and distinguish between device, configuration, and system-related issues.
-
Develop diagnostic playbooks for field investigations and evidence collection related to suspected meter performance issues.
-
Define practical KPIs for meter performance assurance, such as test pass rates, repeat failures by model or batch, and accuracy-related complaint trends.
-
Align recommendations with standards hierarchy and terminology (OIML, IEC, ISO, AWWA) and interpret Maximum Permissible Errors (MPE) for electricity and water meters.
-
Advise on preventive maintenance sampling programs using OIML G 20:2017 principles, including 95/95 confidence, AQL, and multi-level stratification incorporating AMI diagnostics.
-
Provide guidance on field inspection and ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory testing scope and interpretation (electric: no-load and accuracy points; water: Q1–Q4 flow testing).
-
Recommend event-driven replacement triggers based on AMI diagnostic indicators, ensuring AMI diagnostics complement rather than replace physical verification.
-
Advise on replacement documentation requirements for auditability, including triggers, test results, billing impact, disposition, and failure analysis feedback loops.
Qualifications
-
10–15 years of experience in metering engineering, metrology, or utility meter lab/field assurance.
-
Hands-on familiarity with IEC 62052/62053, IEC 62056/DLMS, OIML R 49-1, and OIML G 20 standards and concepts.
-
Ability to engage with OEMs and laboratories, translating technical outcomes into operational decisions.
-
Consulting experience is preferred.
-
Experience in the Utilities sector is required, with mandatory expertise in the Electric sector; experience in the Water sector is a plus.
-
Proficiency in English is mandatory; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Work Environment
-
Based in the Middle East (KSA, UAE, Qatar,..), with flexibility for remote and onsite engagements.
-
High-performance team culture fostering continuous learning and development
-
Travel may be required based on client needs
