Position Details:Job Title: Assistant Director- Data Science & AI: EDS

Role Summary

The Assistant Director – Data Science & AI is responsible for driving the design, delivery and deployment of advanced Data Science and AI solutions, while providing hands‑on leadership across complex analytics engagements. The role combines deep technical expertise, active project involvement, and strong stakeholder leadership to enable data‑led decision‑making and measurable business outcomes across functions.

Role Purpose

  • Shape and embed Data Science and Advanced Analytics capabilities as a core enabler of business strategy.

  • Lead and actively contribute to high‑impact Data Science and AI projects.

  • Translate business problems into robust, scalable analytical and AI solutions that meet EY quality, risk, and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities Hands‑on Data Science & AI Delivery

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of Data Science and AI initiatives, including problem definition, data exploration, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment.

  • Remain hands‑on for critical project components, setting technical direction and resolving complex analytical challenges.

  • Apply and review advanced techniques across statistical modelling, machine learning, and AI, ensuring robustness, explainability, and business relevance.

  • Embed analytics solutions into business processes, ensuring adoption, sustainability, and value realization.

Client & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, articulating complex analytical outputs in clear, business‑focused terms.

  • Lead client discussions, workshops, and solution walkthroughs, demonstrating practical application of analytics and AI.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance business decision‑making through advanced analytics.

  • Ensure all solutions meet EY standards for quality, risk management, and data governance.

Technology & Platform Enablement

  • Collaborate closely with ML Engineering, Data Engineering, and Technology teams to shape scalable data and analytics architectures.

  • Drive best practices in model lifecycle management, deployment, and performance monitoring.

  • Support the evolution of analytics platforms to enable repeatable, industrialized Data Science delivery.

People Leadership

  • Build, develop, and lead high‑performing Data Science and Analytics teams.

  • Coach and mentor team members through hands‑on technical guidance across modelling, programming, and analytical thinking.

  • Foster a culture of quality, inclusion, continuous learning and innovation.

  • Manage performance, development, and progression in line with EY people processes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Educational background in Engineering, Statistics or Data Science

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Analytics, Data Science, or AI‑led roles.

  • Demonstrated hands‑on delivery experience across multiple Data Science and AI project types.

  • Strong grounding in statistical methods, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques.

  • Deep understanding of AI models with experience in deploying Agentic AI based solutions.

  • Proven ability to balance technical depth with business and client leadership.

Additional Experience (Preferred)

  • Experience in Financial Services, Insurance, Banking, Procurement, or Talent Analytics.

  • Prior client‑facing or consulting experience, including workshops and executive interactions.

  • Exposure to onsite or global delivery models.
