With your contribution and my contribution, together we will thrive.

The opportunity

As a Senior Consultant or Manager, you’ll provide actuarial consulting to clients across the private and government sectors, specialising in General Insurance and/or Private Health Insurance. Your responsibilities will include managing projects and delivering results and strategic advice that help clients handle risk, optimise performance, and develop growth strategies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Forge strategic partnerships with a diverse range of clients, making a significant impact in both the public and private sectors to enhance community wellbeing.

  • Collaborate across our broader Financial Services practice, including strategy, transactions, tax, technology, and risk professionals.

  • Engage in a variety of projects – from business transformation, capital and risk management, pricing, and product innovation to liability valuation and appointed actuary work.

  • Develop and implement actuarial models and methodologies, analyse and interpret data to uncover critical insights for informed decision-making.

  • Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory and legislative changes, and actively contribute to business thought leadership.

  • Champion continuous improvement and shape the next generation of processes, tools, and analytical approaches.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field. Completed, or progressing towards, a professional actuarial qualification (e.g., FIAA), with 2 to 8 years of professional experience in an actuarial role. Experience with coding, programming, and AI/GenAI is highly valued.

  • Skills and Abilities: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills; strong quantitative abilities; proficiency with actuarial software and techniques using Excel, SAS, R, and Python. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships, and the ability to present complex information clearly to non-specialists.

  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of general insurance and/or private health insurance. Experience in areas like product development and pricing, claims and reserving, underwriting and reinsurance, capital and risk management, asset and liability valuation, IFRS 17, regulatory and prudential frameworks, advanced analytics and portfolio strategy is advantageous.

  • Project Management and Leadership: Ability to manage projects, develop new business opportunities, and mentor junior staff. Demonstrates initiative, a can-do attitude, and proactiveness in trying new approaches.

  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Comfortable with complexity and flexible in a dynamic, technology-driven environment. Commitment to staying up to date with market trends, legislation, and regulatory changes, and contributing to business thought leadership.

We’re interested in your strengths, aptitude, and willingness to learn. Don’t worry if you don’t meet every criteria—what matters most is your attitude and potential.
