Data Risk and AI Director, London or Birmingham
The growing volumes of disparate data, coupled with the advances in artificial intelligence and data science, have created a unique opportunity for us to support our clients in developing intelligent decision-making solutions. In doing this we can enable our clients to take strategic, financial, operational and compliance decisions with confidence.
EY’s Data Risk and AI team is a data-focused group within our Assurance Advisory Services department. We work across a variety of sectors and by combining industry experience, data and AI skills and deep understanding of technology we help our clients in dealing with the complex issues related to their Data and business. We support them to make data accessible, compliant and of high quality, then to use this data to manage key risks and in turn improve productivity, efficiency and reimagine their business whilst delivering outcomes for all key stakeholders. Whether it is structuring, managing, developing or delivering technology solutions we need the very best people to join us and strengthen our team further to achieve our ambitious targets.
The opportunity
Through our strategic investment we are experiencing rapid growth in this area and we now have an opportunity for a market facing Director to join us to. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical and business relationships through working with our diverse portfolio of clients across sectors such as Life Sciences, Government, health care and Energy.
Your role will be focused on leading and developing our market strategy and helping our clients identify and define complex business problems that can be solved using data science, AI and technology.
Your key responsibilities:
We will expect you to have experience across all four areas of our leadership expectation: clients, business, team and personal. This will enable you to lead our teams, manage our clients and assignments, grow our business in a commercial way which adheres to our values, and inspire others through your own behaviours.
Key responsibilities of the role include:

Developing and building long term client relationships across key sectors and accounts;
-
Supporting and driving business development activities including identification, client conversations, proposal development and participating in pitches;
-
Playing an active role in promoting the team in the market through activities such as writing thought leadership (white papers), conference participation, product development and developing our relationships with our strategic technology partners;
-
Ensuring meaningful client value is delivered to retain and grow client relationships with measurable results;
-
Bringing the latest technical experience in AI & ML, data science, engineering, statistics, cloud arch;
-
Providing deep industry knowledge; and
-
Taking a significant role in the strategy, growth of the team and wider practice, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of other team members.
To qualify for the role you must have
-
A demonstrable track record in growing business in supporting clients to manage their data, use their data to manage key risks and improve business performance.
-
An exemplary track record in delivery of client engagements related to data risks and AI solutions.
-
An ability to develop innovative data driven solutions and take them to market.
-
Experience in growing and leading a team to develop business and deliver for clients to the highest standards.
-
Experience in delivery of advanced Analytics & Decision Intelligence.
-
Experience of scalable AI architecture and solutions.
-
Capability in AI Literacy, ML Engineering & Generative AI Fluency
-
Hands on experience of Agentic AI & Autonomous Systems
Ideally, you’ll also have some of the following
-
An understanding of the UK, EU and US financial reporting regulatory environment
-
Recognised qualifications in cloud engineering, AI and data science.
-
Experience in conducting IT audits over major change programmes and regulatory remediation programmes
-
Experience working for a professional services consultancy firm or blue-chip industry firm in the management of data related risks and the usage of data to drive confidence in decision making is desirable.

Deep knowledge of the challenges facing key industries.
