SAP BASIS Manager 1,2 Tech Ops (AI and Application Development) Consultant

The Opportunity

We are looking for an SAP Technical Manager to join the EY GDS Team. As part of our EY GDS – Tech Ops team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions within the SAP ecosystem. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in both SAP and AI technologies, strong leadership abilities, and strategic project management skills.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in related technology field (Computer, Engineering, Science, etc.) or comparable job experiences.

• Typically requires 8-10+ years of technical experience in SAP environments, with a proven track record in leadership and project implementation.

• SAP Technologies: Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA, ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, Fiori/UI5, SAP BTP, and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).

• AI/ML Expertise: Strong experience in Python, ML frameworks (Tensor Flow, Py Torch), LLM toolchains (Lang Chain), MLOps tools, and cloud AI services (Azure AI, AWS Sage Maker).

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming, cloud architecture (Kubernetes, Docker), data analysis, and performance tuning.

• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to manage priorities and work effectively in cross-functional, agile environments.

• Preferred Qualifications: SAP certifications in relevant technical or AI fields are a plus.

• Experience working in a global setting with multi-regional teams, understanding cultural nuances and time zone differences.

• Ability to manage cross functional and technical team, give them directions and drive technical discussions with various stake holders

• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a global, cross functional team environment.

• Understanding of SAP Functional modules and business processes with the ability to translate business requirements and issues into technical solutions

• Proven track record of successfully driving solutions in a complex, multi-platform environment

• Extensive in client management working with various regions in a global setting

• Depth of experience in setting up, growing, transforming, and delivering application management teams

• Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence

• Strong client management, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think strategically and make data driven decisions

What you will do:

• AI Solution Development: Design, build, and deploy AI/ML models and Generative AI solutions (e.g., using SAP Joule, SAP AI Core, and external cloud AI services) integrated with core SAP systems like S/4HANA.

• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Lead and manage global or local technical teams, defining the AI architecture direction, ensuring code quality, and enforcing best practices for scalable and secure solutions.

• Integration and Automation: Oversee the integration of AI capabilities into various SAP modules (Finance, Supply Chain, HR, etc.) using technologies like the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP CPI, and APIs.

• Innovation and Strategy: Stay current on the latest AI trends and the SAP AI roadmap, advising stakeholders on practical adoption strategies and leveraging tools like SAP Build Code for enhanced developer productivity.

• Performance and Governance: Ensure the scalability, robustness, and optimal performance of AI applications, and implement governance frameworks (like SAP AI Foundation) for compliance and bias detection in AI-driven decisions.

• Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior AI specialists and team members, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation including system configuration, installation procedures and guidelines.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and SAP best practices to drive operational efficiency through automation and innovation
