FSO Assurance – Financial Accounting & Advisory Services – Manager
Within EY, FAAS operates across a global network and the UK has dedicated team focussing on Financial Services clients. Given the dynamic and innovative landscape of financial services and products, FAAS specialists must deal with the added complexity of understanding and implementing financial accounting and regulatory change in a constantly changing environment.
The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s specialist Financial Accounting and Advisory team. This role will provide an opportunity to be involved in a dynamic and fast growth part of the Assurance service line. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to use their skills and knowledge to help continue that growth whilst also providing a great opportunity to build and expand their own corporate network.
Your key responsibilities
Everything you’ll do will come back to providing exceptional accounting advisory for our clients. Colleagues and clients from a diverse array of backgrounds will look to you first for answers, so you’ll be a high-profile contact when it comes to resolving complex issues. As you build your knowledge and experience, you’ll become a credible advisor, influencing clients and engagement teams on resolutions that will impact entire industries
The areas we work in include IFRS conversion support, implementation of new accounting standards (such as IFRS 9, 15, 16, 17), implementation of new regulation (such as Basel IV, Ring Fencing), regulatory reporting (incl. Solvency II, FINREP, COREP), Finance operating model and process design and implementation (incl. technology enabled solutions), Finance control framework design and implementation (incl. SOX), financial accounting/control/reporting process support, internal and external audit support, assistance with public offerings and structuring transactions
Skills and attributes for success

Lead our contribution to the development and debate surrounding GAAP changes (IFRS, UK GAAP, US GAAP) and other regulatory developments (e.g. Solvency II), focusing on the practical impact on clients;

Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients while striving to actively stay informed of market trends, performance drivers and emerging technical and industry developments;

Identify and develop opportunities with new and existing clients
-
Assist clients through the provision of advice, the delivery of implementation projects and the investigation and resolution of technical accounting and regulatory issues;

Assist in business development work of new and existing clients through sustained market efforts, including the preparation of bids and proposals and supporting the execution of the same;

Manage and lead teams on projects and work with other Advisory teams to deliver high quality client service;

Manage the key stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, for a portfolio of client engagements

Provide coaching, mentoring and counselling to junior team members

Perform training and develop service offerings in Financial Services sector specialisms
To qualify for the role you must have
-
Accounting qualifications ACA/CA/ACCA or equivalent
-
Significant experience of IFRS, UK GAAP or US GAAP gained within the Financial Services sector
-
Ability to network effectively within large organisations and build relationships with individuals and clients
-
Team management skills and experience in overseeing the work of others
-
Technically sound and an understanding and appreciation of recent accounting developments (IFRS 9, IFRS 10, IFRS 13, FRS 101, FRS 102 etc.)
Ideally, you’ll also have

Exposure to financial reporting and/or regulatory reporting (financial information, capital or liquidity reporting)

Exposure to prudential regulation covering capital, leverage, and ICAAP disciplines, ideally developed in the banking sector

An understanding and appreciation of the capital impacts of recent and future prudential and accounting developments.

Experience of translating prudential developments into insightful analysis to drive improved business performance and decision making
