We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultants to join our team as a Data Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of data engineering and integration, and model development, with a specific focus on designing and building cloud data and AI solutions using Snowflake and the eco-system of tools that are part of the wider solution architecture such as Fivetran, dbt and Coalesce. You will play a crucial role in designing the solution architecture, enabling data ingestion and transformation pipelines, designing data models and data products, and creating user-friendly interfaces that empower users to interact with complex data through data visualization tools and natural language interfaces.

This position offers a unique chance to contribute to innovative projects while also providing mentorship and technical leadership to junior team members.

This is a hybrid position and can be performed from any of our EY offices across Aotearoa. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

  • Snowflake AI Data Cloud solution architecture design.

  • Data modelling and the design and build of data pipelines to ingest and transform data.

  • Integration of the Snowflake platform with other ecosystem toolsets such as Fivetran,dbt and Coalesce.

  • Designing and building scalable, robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines on Snowflake using tools such as Snowpipe, Fivetran,dbt and Coalesce.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the teamremainsat thecutting edgeof data engineering practices.

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

Proven experience in:

  • Implementing Snowflake AI Data Cloud platforms.

  • Data platform solution architecture design patterns.

  • Data modelling using a range of data modelling methodologies, including 3rdnormal for, Start Schema and Big wide tables.

  • Data engineering and building scalable,robust data pipelines using tools such as dbt.

  • Writing efficient SQL queries.

  • Integrating Snowflake with data processing frameworks, particularlywith solutions such as Fivetran, dbt, Coalesce and PowerBI.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Holds a degree in Technology, Computer Science or a similar field.

  • A working knowledge of Snowflake Horizon Catalog.

  • Integration of Snowflake with Cortex to facilitate seamless data ingestion processes.

  • Design and train machine learning models on Cortex based on a defined set of business questions and requirements.

  • Proficiency with development languages such as Python, Java, and Scala.

  • Proficiencyin building interactive user interfaces using Streamlitor similar frameworks.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about data challenges.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a passion forleveragingdata to drive business outcomes.

  • Curiosity about data and AI, and how thesecan be usedto deliver valuefor both society andorganisations.

  • Experience in technical leadership or mentorship roles, guiding junior team members towards success.

The salary range for this role is expected to be NZD**$90,000** to NZD**$125,000** dependent on skills and experience.

This full-time role is for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
