Exxon Mobil in Malaysia

In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to Exxon Mobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.

What role you will play in the team

  • As an experienced Reliability Engineer, you will provide strategic, cross-functional, and technical leadership in the areas of reliability engineering, maintenance optimization, and asset management through all stages of project development and asset operation. You will support technology development and implementation to enhance reliability and performance of our lubes assets in China market.

  • You will be an integral part of our dynamic and expanding Engineering team based in Kuala Lumpur, collaborating with our community of engineering discipline experts and senior technical professionals around the world to deliver engineering excellence. You will discover and implement cutting-edge technologies for reliability improvement, uncovering opportunities to drive forward our strategic priorities with innovative solutions.

  • You will also develop the capabilities of less experienced reliability engineers within the technical discipline, fostering their growth and expertise.

What you will do

- Drive the development and execution of cutting-edge equipment strategies and predictive maintenance programs to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.

- Lead advanced reliability investigations using sophisticated techniques like Fault Tree Analysis and Root-Cause Failure Analysis to swiftly resolve critical issues.

- Engineer and optimize annual maintenance plans, leveraging preventive and predictive tasks to ensure peak equipment performance.

- Provide expert technical support and strategic guidance to guarantee the reliability and maintainability of both new and existing installations.

- Champion risk assessments and devise innovative solutions to eliminate repetitive failures and elevate asset performance.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering or other related disciplines

  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in refinery or petrochemical or upstream oil and gas facilities

  • Ability to garner technical insights from large engineering data sets using analytical tools and concepts; making competitive decisions/recommendations

  • Background or experience in maintenance and execution systems, familiar with Maintenance Management Systems such as SAP and having supported major Turnarounds/Shutdowns will be highly valued

  • Fluency in Mandarin will be an advantage
