About Houston
Exxon Mobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

By Joining the Active Materials and Process Team with Exxon Mobil Technology and Engineering Company, you will be an integral technical contributor to process development and scale-up programs applying your skills in fluid dynamics, transport phenomena, and computational modeling to solve process development, scale-up, and unit design problems critical to developing new process technologies from conceptual ideas to commercial scale deployment.
What you will do
-
Develop and apply fluid dynamics and transport phenomena models to guide the development and design of new process technologies with applications across all Exxon Mobil Companies: Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions.

Work collaboratively as part of a cross-discipline team complementing expertise in fundamental and pilot plant experimentation, process engineering, and equipment design with your expertise in applied and computational fluid dynamics and transport phenomena. Though this role will be modeling focused, you will contribute to experimental design and execution.

Serve as a subject matter expert in topics related to fluid dynamics, transport phenomena, and CFD to the global research and process engineering communities.

Develop and maintain advanced computational fluid dynamics and transport phenomena modeling capabilities.
About You Required Skills and Qualifications
-
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with relevant thesis work.
-
Demonstrated aptitude and strong background in physics-based modeling, particularly in the areas of fluid dynamics and transport phenomena, and a broad interest in applying these skills to process development.
Demonstrated experience with:
-
Developing and applying fluid dynamics and transport phenomena modeling to simulate but not limited to multiphase flows, flows with phase change, reacting flows, or combustion

Developing models using computational languages/platforms: Ansys Fluent (i.e., Fluent User-Defined Functions), OpenFOAM, MATLAB, Python, or compiled languages (e.g., C/C++, Fortran)

High performance computing
-
Strong ability and interest to work on applications driven by abstract problems and develop creative out-of-the box solutions.

Driven and self-motivated.
-
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

Cold flow experimentation.

Experience simulating industrial processes at scale incorporating complexities of physics interactions such as commercial-scale multiphase reactors or mass transfer operations.

Process scale-up experience understanding the impact of scale on unit operations and the design and performance of a commercial-scale embodiment.

Experience with machine learning and hybrid modeling (e.g., physics-informed neural networks).
