Exxon Mobil in Malaysia

In Malaysia, we host a global business and technology center in Kuala Lumpur that provides high-level information technology and engineering expertise to Exxon Mobil’s Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses worldwide. In the upstream, we have interests in two Production Sharing Contracts with PETRONAS, while in the Product Solutions business, we supply a portfolio of specialty chemical products to the marketplace.

What role you will play in the team

Experienced senior process engineer (project development) supporting upstream, downstream, and chemical sites project development from concept selection to project development phase. This role will be based in Menara Exxon Mobil, Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do

  • Support Site with the identification of potential business options that would address the opportunity or need; make preliminary competitive assessments

  • Assess opportunities consistent with business strategies, plans and needs that might support a project with input from Site

  • Develop Project Objectives & Strategies and ensure adequate documentation, communication & adherence throughout project development

  • Responsible for defining overall project scope with the appropriate level of definition to support project development, e.g. preliminary design of equipment, integration of other non-process equipment design as required, lead case selection etc.

  • Lead / facilitate / coordinate gate reviews & obtain Project Steering Committee endorsement

  • Lead development of project gate deliverables (stage 1-3) as appropriate (e.g. design basis, safety and reliability reviews etc.)

  • Coordinate development cost & schedule estimate, working with other organizations as appropriate

  • Develop screening economics for lead alternatives, lead evaluation of alternatives, selection of preferred alternative

  • Determine appropriate project delivery format and execution model

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering

  • 10 years’ experience in downstream or upstream project development area

  • Working knowledge or experience in downstream or upstream process technology, project economics, concept selection, process design and optimization, process safety and project management
