This is an exciting time at Enovix! We are looking for experienced candidates to help support our new lithium-ion battery production facility in Penang, Malaysia for commercialization of our 3D Silicon™ Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery.

Job Summary:

Seeking a hands-on Assembly Engineer to support the development, qualification, and scaling of advanced battery cell assembly processes. This role is critical in designing and optimizing high-precision assembly operations to achieve high yield, reliability, and throughput..

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and sustain battery cell assembly processes, including electrode stacking/winding, tab welding, electrolyte filling, and sealing.
  • Support process development and line bring-up for new products and manufacturing lines.
  • Define and refine process parameters, work instructions, and control plans to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Collaborate with equipment engineers to specify, qualify, and troubleshoot assembly tools and automation systems.
  • Lead DOE (Design of Experiments) to improve yield, reduce defects, and optimize cycle time.
  • Identify and resolve assembly-related defects such as misalignment, poor weld quality, contamination, and dimensional variation.
  • Work closely with quality and metrology teams to establish in-line and end-of-line inspection methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Support failure analysis and root cause investigations related to assembly processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, EHS, and cleanroom protocols where applicable.
  • Document process flows, PFMEA, and manufacturing standards for production readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in assembly process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of precision assembly, fixturing, and tolerance stack-up.
  • Experience working with automated or semi-automated production equipment.
  • Familiarity with DOE, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
