Principal Data Engineer (Snowflake)

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on principal Data Engineer to lead & deliver high quality, efficient and performant data products and solutions to strengthen the Data Platform team.
This role will be responsible for working within various data warehouses, marts, and BI environments. Will be developing on AWS and Snowflake platforms.
This role combines technical leadership with deep engineering expertise to build robust, high-quality data pipelines and platforms.
Expertise in Python, ETL methodologies, SQL and Big Data solutions is critical for success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, DBT, and Airflow.
- Expertise in ETL development and design using Python, Big Data (Hadoop/SPARK)
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade data platforms.
- Extensive Experience on AWS Cloud platform and associated services.
- Expert understanding of dimensional model and ER designs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile Methodology
- Strong exposure to Data Warehouse principles, Semantic layer and data consumption patterns.
- Collaborates with colleagues regarding development best practices and/or data application issues.
- Advises and works on strategic initiatives to mitigate and/or alleviate core data application issues, including opportunities for process automation.
- Operates independently with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Completes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

12+ years of software development experience with 8+ years in a Data related field.

Experience in financial or other highly regulated industry

Use of JIRA in Agile development

Communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and colleagues remain calm in stressful situations independently troubleshoot program errors regardless of technology write user-friendly explanations of highly technical functionality

Possess advanced knowledge and understanding of: procedural programming, relational database design, multi-tier system architecture.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (Information Systems, Mathematics, Software Engineering).
