If you are a Foreign Trade Coordinator professional Iooking for an opportunity to grow your career: this role offers the chance to lead and continuously improve cross-border import/export operations, ensuring strong customs compliance, predictable delivery performance, and transparent landed-cost visibility for the business. You will coordinate internal teams and external partners to support high-volume trade activity (around 4000 imports & 200 exports), strengthen operational controls, and deliver a great experience for customers and stakeholders—while advancing Emerson’s values of innovation, integrity, collaboration, and inclusion.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Coordinate and oversee end-to-end import operations (including high-volume annual transactions), aligning all stakeholders to meet customs requirements and PPI delivery commitments.
  • Ensure customs compliance across processes and documentation, including accurate tariff classification and adherence to applicable regulations and non-tariff requirements.
  • Establish and manage release/clearance timelines that support on-time delivery performance, escalating risks early and driving timely resolution.
  • Build and implement logistics strategies to improve cycle time, increase process clarity, and optimize logistics spend—using data to identify bottlenecks and remove non-value-added work.
  • Define, track, and communicate performance indicators (KPIs) that show operational health, clearance times, and results of improvement initiatives.
  • Control and reconcile delivered material versus fulfillment orders and purchase orders to maintain accurate operational and customer visibility.
  • Partner with customs brokers/representatives to ensure the lawful importation of Emerson goods and smooth release and dispatch for material disposition.
  • Support conformity assessment and certification workflows (including NOM-related activities), coordinating documentation, payments to certifying bodies, sample handling (when required), and maintaining records, validity dates, and renewals.
  • Provide business-ready justifications for exception requests when needed and maintain audit-ready supporting documentation.
  • Monitor and manage inventory held by third-party logistics/customs partners (including U.S.-based broker warehouse inventory destined for the customer), ensuring traceability and timely disposition.
  • Plan, direct, and control land/air/sea import and export activities (as applicable), coordinating customs and transportation in line with internal and external legal requirements.
  • Guide shipment prioritization with logistics partners through clear written and verbal communication, balancing urgency, criticality, and cost.
  • Produce clear operational reporting (arrivals, in-process and completed imports, deviations, damages, aging inventory, and other trade/logistics dashboards) to support decision-making.
  • Control customs, taxes, duties, and service fees per shipment; maintain electronic proof-of-payment records and support reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare and validate U.S. export documentation prior to Mexico import when needed, coordinate U.S. export logistics, and support transport documentation requirements (including Carta Porte inputs).
  • Own landed-cost visibility and allocation by business unit, ensuring freight and logistics charges are applied accurately and consistently; support cost tracking programs and payment reconciliations (e.g., CASS/PECE where applicable).
  • Lead and/or contribute to continuous improvement projects that sustain or enhance the operation, strengthening controls, efficiency, compliance, and stakeholder experience.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and supervising import/export operations across one or more modes (land, air, and/or sea), including customs clearance and transportation coordination.
  • Working knowledge of Mexico customs compliance practices, tariff classification, and the management of regulatory and non-tariff requirements.
  • Experience partnering with customs brokers/representatives and internal stakeholders to ensure lawful importation and timely release of goods.
  • Ability to manage costs and create visibility of logistics spend, including landed-cost reporting and charge allocation across business units.
  • Capability to define, track, and communicate KPIs; comfort creating operational reports and presentations for different audiences.
  • Practical experience managing documentation control (electronic filing, proofs of payment, shipment records) with an audit-ready mindset.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to coordinate priorities, manage escalations, and provide clear updates across teams and partners.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience supporting NOM-related certification processes (including samples, records, renewals, and coordination with certifying bodies) and preparing exception justifications when required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. export documentation steps that precede Mexico import and with cross-border coordination from U.S. origin to Mexico destination.
  • Experience managing inventory visibility with third-party logistics/customs partners, including aging, disposition, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with data tools (e.g., Excel) and comfort working in ERP/ATS-integrated environments to support clean, timely data flow and reporting (Oracle familiarity is a plus).
  • Continuous improvement mindset with examples of simplifying processes, reducing cycle time, or improving compliance outcomes through practical changes.
