Our team supports this diverse community by building shipping products around the globe, helping individual sellers and small businesses to meet the growing expectations of online buyers. You will be part of a team responsible for building out the newest e Bay experience -- live shopping platform: e Bay Live. Live shopping naturally fits into the e Bay ethos -- focused largely on unique items, collectibles and fashion, and enabling direct communication between buyers and sellers. This is a relatively new trend in the US and Europe, growing quickly, and is already broadly established in APAC.

We are looking to hire a passionate, collaborative and motivated Android Software Engineer, who will help us develop and evolve e Bay Live to be a market leader in live shopping and become a key part of the global e Bay platform.

What you'll do and learn:

• Independently lead sophisticated technical initiatives for the entire organization and across domains

• Drive technical direction and roadmap, leads across domain teams and guides others towards the right technical decisions.

• Authors ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) that serves as blueprint or a proposed solution for a given technical problem and influences overall tech strategy

• Responsible for one or more large functional areas possessing in-depth knowledge and expertise.

• Demonstrate strong systems mentality, go beyond immediate needs, proactively addressing performance, security, and future-proofing solutions.

• Take ownership of complex projects, driving them from conception to successful implementation.

• Change agency to set high bar and uplevel across teams on culture, process and engineering practices. Empower teams through effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and tool building.

• Identifying areas in the app ecosystem and adjacencies that are likely to change and integrating flexibility in the design for these areas improving engineering velocity

• Long term technology vision to continually modernize and keep systems relevant in constantly evolving environments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS or other related field.

• 10 years professional experience in native mobile development

• Translate requirements to software design and create clean, efficient, extensible, maintainable code.

• Responsible for multiple large functional areas possessing in-depth knowledge and expertise.

• Act as a technical authority and multiplier across domain and platform teams, shaping technical direction, setting standards, and guiding long-term architectural decisions in cross-team contexts.

• Improves team productivity by identifying and voicing support for opportunities for productivity improvements.

• Identifying areas in the team applications likely to change and integrating flexibility in the design for these areas improving engineering velocity.

• Collaborate effectively with multi-functional partners to develop innovative solutions that adhere to development goals and principles.

• Lead execution of large, multi-team initiatives, decomposing complex programs into well-defined milestones, managing technical risk, and resolving cross-team dependencies to ensure predictable delivery..

• Provide org-level technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and ADR ((Architecture Decision Records) authorship and stewardship; mentor and coach senior engineers, and influence technical quality beyond immediate teams.

• Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities across systems and organizations, propose durable solutions, define multi-quarter engineering roadmaps, and drive alignment and execution across teams and stakeholders.
