The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) organization is the engine of data and AI infrastructure innovation at e Bay. We design, build, and operate the large-scale, mission-critical platforms that handle exabytes of data, trillions of daily queries, and power the entire e Bay technology ecosystem. We are responsible for defining the future of data at a global e-commerce leader.

Our platforms are the backbone of e Bay's data and AI strategy. We engineer and manage:

• Massive-Scale Data Infrastructure: Building and managing high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems and the core data infrastructure that enables all data processing at e Bay.

• Foundational Data Systems: Engineering highly available, at-scale databases and cloud-native storage solutions for both transactional and analytical workloads.

• AI Platform: Developing and operating the core services of the AI Platform to accelerate the development, training, serving, and inference of machine learning models across the company.

• Real-Time Data and Metrics Processing: Creating robust, high-volume data processing and streaming platforms to securely and efficiently move data across our global environment in real-time.

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Engineering Leader to establish and scale our Cloud Data Technologies presence in India. This is a highly strategic role for a seasoned leader who is passionate about both cutting-edge technology and building high-performing teams.

You will partner closely with global leadership to oversee software development across multiple critical data and AI domains. This role requires a proven track record in distributed systems, technical strategy, and people development to deliver a modern, unified, and attractive data platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• People Leadership: Establish, mentor, and scale the Bengaluru engineering team for CDT. Foster a culture of innovation, trust, high-performance, and technical accountability.

• Technical Strategy and Execution: Provide hands-on technical direction for teams contributing to core data infrastructure, distributed databases, AI Platform, and data processing initiatives. Ensure execution aligns with global standards of reliability and scalability.

• Cross-Functional Influence: Act as a key partner to global leadership and geographically distributed teams to align technical roadmap with business goals and customer needs.

• Operational Excellence: Champion a culture of operational rigor, supporting critical SLAs/SLOs, incident response, and capacity planning for foundational data platforms.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 15+ years of progressive software development experience, with a significant focus on large-scale data technologies, distributed systems, databases, and platforms.

• Leadership at Scale: Proven track record of successfully leading teams of teams, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams in large, technology-driven organizations.

• Technical Depth: Strong architectural understanding of modern data architectures, AI Platform components, cloud storage, and highly-scalable data flows and processing frameworks.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
