About the team and the role:

This role sits within e Bay’s engineering organization and is focused on building a next-generation AI-powered platform that transforms how software products are developed and delivered across the enterprise. The team integrates intelligent workflows, contextual systems, and scalable infrastructure to increase engineering velocity and quality for product teams across e Bay. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional group of backend, frontend, and platform engineers, partnering closely with Product, Build, Data, and partner engineering teams. Reporting into a senior engineering leader, you will shape team culture, drive delivery excellence, and set technical direction for core platform capabilities in a collaborative environment that values ownership, learning, and sustainable work/life balance.

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team to deliver core AI-powered platform capabilities that measurably improve developer productivity and product quality across e Bay.

  • Own end-to-end delivery for your team, driving predictable, high-quality releases through clear planning, prioritization, and outcome-based tracking.

  • Define and evolve scalable architectures, engineering standards, and best practices for distributed, cloud-native systems that provide reliable, high-availability services to internal customers.

  • Partner with Product, Build, Data, and partner engineering teams to translate strategic goals into executable roadmaps, ensuring strong alignment, proactive dependency management, and timely delivery.

  • Balance near-term feature commitments with longer-term platform investments and thoughtful management of technical debt, enabling sustainable innovation and scalability.

  • Build and grow talent within the team by mentoring engineers, developing emerging technical leaders, and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What you will bring:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams delivering complex, distributed systems in production.

  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and scalable backend platforms, with hands-on experience operating high-availability, high-performance services.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive reliable delivery in Agile environments, using clear operational and quality metrics to guide execution and improvement.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners (such as Product, Data, and platform teams) and influencing technical decisions to align teams around shared outcomes.

  • Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing teams through coaching, regular feedback, and career development support, including participation in hiring and onboarding.

  • Curiosity and adaptability to operate in evolving problem spaces, with familiarity in AI, machine learning systems, or intelligent workflow platforms considered a plus; role is based in location, with standard business hours and limited travel as needed for key planning or collaboration moments.
