We partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Business leaders to define success across the end-to-end buyer journey and ensure data-driven decisions at scale.

We are seeking a Data Scientist (L24) to take a leadership role in accelerating e Bay’s C2C strategy across core buyer experiences, including Homepage, Discovery & Recommendations, View Item, and Community surfaces (e.g., My e Bay and key engagement initiatives). In this role, you will own data analysis for one or more high-impact product domains. You will create the measurement and experimentation roadmap. You will develop robust metrics, segmentation, and evaluation frameworks. These frameworks will optimize personalized discovery, trust, and buyer–seller engagement in a C2C marketplace.

You will act as a strategic thought partner to Product, Engineering, Design, and Business stakeholders, translating complex data into clear narratives and actionable recommendations that drive buyer and seller engagement, increase marketplace vibrancy, and deliver incremental GMB/GMV. What you will accomplish:

As a Data Science Analyst, you will have the outstanding opportunity to:

  • Applies advanced statistical theory and machine learning techniques to develop novel analytical approaches to complex product problems.
  • Designs and builds new measurement frameworks, experimentation methodologies, and modeling approaches where none exist.
  • Owns end-to-end analytics strategy for Buyer C2C product domains, including defining success metrics, experimentation roadmaps, and long-term measurement approaches.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy in solving ambiguous, open-ended product and marketplace problems with significant business impact.
  • Directly influences revenue and marketplace outcomes through data-driven recommendations impacting buyer and seller behavior at scale.
  • This role is not focused on routine reporting or operational KPI tracking, but on forward-looking, experimental and predictive analysis to shape product direction.
  • Leads design, execution, and interpretation of A/B tests and quasi-experimental methods to establish causal impact of product changes.
  • Partners with and influences senior Product, Engineering, and Business leaders on roadmap trade-offs and investment decisions.
  • Drives thought leadership in analytics by introducing new methodologies, tools, or modeling approaches that advance product understanding.

Your work will be pivotal in improving the end-to-end buyer experience across the buyer lifecycle, strengthening buyer & seller relationships, and enabling e Bay’s broader C2C ambitions. We are looking for a leader who combines strong technical depth with strategic thinking, business acumen, and the ability to navigate and optimize a complex, global marketplace.

What you will bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in analytics/data science
