About the opportunity
e Bay Motors is a dynamic, multi-billion dollar global portfolio encompassing Parts & Accessories (P&A), Business & Industrial, Vehicles, and WHI—a B2B Parts & Accessories marketplace in the US. These categories are not only pivotal to e Bay’s strategic future but are also at the forefront of market innovation and transformation. Our team has a proven track record of success, built on customer obsession, team spirit, and consistently exceeding financial goals.
We are looking to hire a Manager of Strategy and Operations, located in Austin, TX who will support the e Bay Motors leadership team and play an instrumental role in accelerating growth across the Motors’ portfolio of assets. The role will have a global remit as part of a Global Motors Strategy & Operations team. Specifically, the role will focus on driving growth in key Parts & Accessories initiatives to drive outsized growth globally, while also contributing to global reporting for the broader Motors portfolio. The role will utilize data and business case development to develop strategic insights and lead execution of key initiatives with key partners, while ensuring operational excellence in planning, analytics, reporting, and collaboration across a broad cross-functional team. Our key partners include product, marketing, analytics, finance, operations, pricing, and business development, among many others.
The role demands a dual mentality: both that of a strategic leader—who has a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces, can break down tough problems into clear frameworks, operate in ambiguity, and possesses strong data intuition and executive-ready communications—as well as someone who can move quickly and decisively as an embedded operator not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Responsibilities
- Identify and execute opportunities across Motors that require strategic assessment
- Drive progress against milestones for key strategic initiatives
- Create operational consistency, processes, and alignment across the portfolio
- Establish processes and guardrails to ensure operational success
- Build and own executive-ready presentations on Motors strategy and operations updates
- Own tracking and reporting of portfolio health to e Bay global leadership teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners; ensure alignment with other e Bay verticals, other e Bay teams, and global initiatives
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and strategy skills, including structured thinking, synthesizing, distilling key insights from data and creating a compelling storyline/ narrative
- High degree of ownership and commitment to results, self-motivated
- Executive level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tell a compelling story backed by data
- Demonstrated ability to project manage a group of peers and lead through influence
- Strong ability to synthesize and visualize data and strategic insights and business case financial and operational modeling via Power
Point and Excel:
- Organized problem solver who balances attention to detail with efficiency
- Ability to operate in a small, nimble, and impactful team
- Strong cross-functional leader who is also recognized as a collaborator and partner
- Ambition to grow professionally and willingness to work hard, learn/adapt, and provide feedback both upward and to peer teams
Requirements
- 4.5+ years of related experience, including 2+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or in a strategy & planning role at a major corporation
- Industry experience in consumer goods, retail, e-commerce, or consumer tech
- Strong SQL proficiency preferred
- Interest and/or experience in Motors a plus, but not required
- BA/BS required, MBA or similar graduate degree preferred
