About the Team and role:
e Bay Live is one of e Bay’s top strategic priorities, operating in a true zero-to-one space to define a new, interactive shopping experience for customers globally. As Live scales, trust and global reach are critical growth enablers, and this role is responsible for bringing e Bay’s differentiated strengths in protections and global commerce to life within Live.
The Director of Product, e Bay Live Protections & Globalization will lead the team that owns the end-to-end protections and cross-border trade (CBT) experiences on e Bay Live. The team’s mission is twofold: first, to create a trusted Live platform by adapting e Bay’s protections, such as e Bay Money Back Guarantee (eMBG) and Authenticity Guarantee, to the unique nuances of Live, ensuring they are both effective and clearly understood by buyers and sellers; and second, to define and implement the product strategy that enables sellers to sell and fulfill to buyers across geographies and allows buyers to discover and transact with sellers globally.
This team ensures cross-border Live experiences are compliant, transparent, and easy to use, while owning product requirements driven by evolving regulatory and compliance needs. This leader will set clear product strategy, drive deep cross-functional execution, and lead a high-performing team that delivers end-to-end experiences aligned to e Bay Live’s strategy, quality bar, and customers’ jobs to be done.
What you will accomplish:
-
Create product strategy and vision that maps to the e Bay Live and broader e Bay strategy. Lead the multi-year vision for Protections and Globalization on e Bay Live, owning the end-to-end buyer and seller journeys and using qualitative insights and quantitative data to inform strategy and decisions.
-
Design and implement a multi-year roadmap. Develop and own a compelling roadmap and delivery plan that balances marketplace growth, seller success, and regulatory requirements. Partner with senior leaders across Product, Design, Engineering, Trust, Policy, Legal, Analytics, Operations, and Global Markets to align priorities and drive execution. Define clear success metrics and criteria that measure impact and guide prioritization.
-
Deliver differentiated trust and protection experiences. Lead the Live product experience for e Bay-unique trust promises, including e Bay Money Back Guarantee (eMBG) and Authenticity Guarantee, ensuring they are designed for Live-specific nuances and clearly understood by both buyers and sellers.
-
Champion the customer and experience quality. Demonstrate deep customer empathy by continuously incorporating buyer and seller insights into product decisions. Partner closely with Design and Research to test, learn, and iterate, and establish mechanisms for continuous improvement across Live trust and global flows.
-
Break down silos and enable cross-functional execution. Drive alignment and collaboration across highly matrixed teams, including embedded contributors, to deliver complex, cross-domain initiatives while maintaining a high bar for product quality and Live strategy alignmen and enabling teams to prioritize and implement with speed and clarity.
-
Build and inspire a high-performing product team. Recruit, develop, and retain top product talent; foster an inclusive and collaborative culture; and empower teams with clear goals, strong product judgment, and the operating mechanisms needed to move quickly and deliver impact.
What you will bring:
-
12 years of product management experience, with strong customer-first product judgment; marketplace and/or e Commerce experience preferred.
Proven product strategy leadership at scale, setting vision, building multi-year roadmaps, and delivering measurable global impact. -
Strong product judgment, turning customer and business insights into clear priorities, tradeoffs, and execution-ready roadmaps.
-
End-to-end product and technical depth, with experience designing high-quality UX for complex, multi-system platforms and partnering closely with Engineering and Design.
-
Data-driven decision maker, skilled in defining success metrics and using quantitative data and qualitative insights to guide strategy, prioritization, and execution.
-
Strong customer obsession, with a track record of elevating experience quality and ensuring seller needs and insights consistently drive product strategy, prioritization, and execution through qualitative research and design partnerships.
-
Experience leading in matrixed, global environments, managing multiple complex initiatives and driving alignment across Product, Engineering, Trust, Policy, Legal, Category, Operations, and Analytics.
-
Strong business and product competence, with the ability to translate ambiguity into clear goals, tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes.
-
Experienced people leader, with 5 years managing product managers and a track record of building, coaching, and inspiring high-performing teams.
-
Executive-level communicator, skilled at aligning stakeholders around product vision and strategy through data-driven narratives and customer insights.
