About the team and role:

We are the Selling Engineering Team at e Bay! We are seeking dedicated, creative and hard-working Senior Software Development Manager to lead skillful backend software engineering team to architect, design and develop innovative, highly performant, available software in the form of web services and applications across various device form factors that help business sellers worldwide to on-board, handle inventory & listing and grow their business on the largest global marketplace.

This position is vital for improving e Bay's selling process to benefit sellers worldwide.

You’ll drive the adoption of AI, code quality, elevate engineering standard methodologies, and help build the next generation of e Bay selling platform.

Leadership, positive motivation, high energy, attention to performance, reliability, scalability and accuracy are of utmost importance as this area of work is at the absolute top of the funnel for all of e Bay’s massive e-commerce ecosystem.

What you will accomplish:

• Lead teams to design cross data center distributed, fault tolerant, highly available and performant web services and web applications by using software architecture design, OOA/D skills in addition to outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
• Build a strong engineering culture passionate about innovation, teamwork, and execution perfection.
• Define and initiate the technical strategy to deliver and balance major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support
• Partner with multi-functional teams
• Drive adoption of AI
• Improve Coding Practices and growing talents
• Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate.

What you will bring:

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Prefer B.S. M.S degree in Computer Science with experience crafting & developing highly scalable distributed platforms and services and internet scale web applications
• Proven track record of leading teams building highly used web applications.
• Strong program management and execution skills — delivering results through clarity, accountability, and collaboration.
• Excellent communication and leadership presence across technical and executive audiences and a passion for talent development and building diverse, impactful teams.
• Expert and hands-on experiences in Java, Spring framework, GraphQL Services, Design Patterns, OOA/D , Data Structures, REST, JSON, and Internet Protocols
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Java, strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and a strong understanding of multithreading, synchronization, concurrent programming; deep architectural understanding of system design and lead project to completion
• Strong collaboration skills to influence a multi-functional and cross geography team to deliver results. Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities
• Experience driving architecture discussions, producing well-documented design docs, participating in design and code reviews and contributing to coding and unit testing of fault-tolerant applications. Comfortable or have familiarity with all the layers of multi-tier applications to design complete solutions and maintain products
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms along with up-to-date knowledge in advancement in Web technologies and drive innovation. Experience in non-functional skills like Security, Load and Performance Tests, Accessibility, Site Speed optimization, Cross-browser /Cross-platform UX Design
