Our team is responsible for building and leveraging e Bay’s Product Knowledge, enabling a deep understanding of user intent and preferences. The role: Sr Data & ML Engineer, MTS 1

We are seeking a seasoned Data & ML Engineer who will serve as a technical leader within a high-impact, fast-moving team. This role is ideal for an engineer who brings clarity and direction to complex problem spaces, leads through influence, and partners effectively across disciplines. You will drive architectural decisions, elevate engineering quality, and unblock teams through deep technical expertise and strong collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Own a functional area end-to-end; set coding and documentation standards.

• Communicate risks/trade-offs and influence decisions across the team.

• Map business problems to production-ready solutions.

• Champion engineering excellence: security, scalability, performance, availability.

• Identify cross-system gaps, propose solutions and drive resolution.

• Drive ramp, launch, and observability.

Requirements:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or an equivalent professional experience.

• 3–6 years of experience in software design and development with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.

• Experience with spark data pipelines, microservices with REST/GraphQL APIs, and event‑driven patterns.

• Solid understanding of data modeling and persistence plus NoSQL and caching.

• Hands‑on with cloud, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong testing discipline (unit, integration, contract, E2E).

• Passion and commitment for technical excellence.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and appreciation for diverse perspectives.

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

C**$142,400** - C**$190,100**

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
