The Piedmont Natural Gas Business Unit (NGBU) supports the energy needs of more than 1.6 million customers in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Carolinas.
This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.
Responsibilities
-
Configure HMI and field automation equipment in accordance with company, industry and regulatory standards and/or contractual requirements while meeting customer needs
-
Provide first level of engineering support for SCADA system operations including design, migration planning, database configuration, data base integrity, network and system security, disaster recovery system functionality, display building, field device protocol testing and maintenance.

Provide data analysis, screen development, backend objects and scripts, data mapping, tag naming, tag aliasing, security, alarming, database updates, point to point checkout and documentation.

Provide technical support to system users – Gas Control, Field Measurement, Engineering, Gas Services, Resource Center Operations, Modeling, Compression, LNG, etc.

Troubleshoot and keep SCADA systems running at optimum level, maximizing systems uptime.

Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic/Required Qualifications
-
Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 8+ years equivalent experience without a degree.

Has a valid driver’s license

Proficient in applying principles of project management.
