About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Personalization team in Barcelona. You will design and build systems that deliver highly relevant, personalized experiences across our digital products. This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering, data, and applied AI—leveraging modern architectures and machine learning techniques to connect users with the most relevant content.
You will play a key role in developing scalable personalization platforms, including recommendation systems and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, working closely with product, data science, and design partners.
You Will:

Design, build, and operate personalization systems and services powering content discovery and user engagement

Develop and maintain RAG pipelines integrating LLMs with structured and unstructured data sources

Build recommendation engines (content, articles, entities, or signals) using collaborative, content-based, or hybrid approaches

Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, and production reliability

Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and analysts to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions

Optimize systems for performance, latency, and scalability across high-traffic environments
-
Contribute to engineering best practices, including testing, observability, and CI/CD
You Have:
-
3+ years of experience building backend systems and distributed services
-
Strong proficiency in Python (production-grade systems)

Experience working with RAG pipelines or LLM-based applications
-
Understanding of data modeling, APIs, and microservices architectures
-
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments
-
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
-
Experience building personalized recommendation systems (e.g., ranking, candidate generation, user embeddings)
-
Familiarity with machine learning workflows, feature engineering, and experimentation (A/B testing)
